Sell out

So, a while bak we decided that we are going to leave Waterloo (barring any major events) after I defend, so probably at the end of August, like everyone else who moves. With that in mind we have been taking a more critical look at what we have in our apartment and what we'd realistically need/want to haul around with us to our next locale. Since we are toying with the idea of moving out of province, it doesn't really make sense to keep a lot of our stuff, since it's second hand furniture or whatever and it's probably cheaper to just get more later than to store it.

So, we've been selling stuff off. Rob sold three bikes and a skateboard (which almost paid for his electric bike conversion kit!) and I sold the chest freezer we used all winter. Two out of the three bikes rob got for free and fixed up, so that was a good profit and the freezer sold for twice what we paid for it. Ha haaa! I feel like a kijiji ninja and it feels so gratifying to get stuff out of the house forever. I really like getting rid of stuff. When I feel stressed or anxious, usually my first instinct is to see what I can let go of. If I'm bored, I look around to see if anything can go to the Value Village. Which is god, I think since both of us are collectors by nature and accumulate stuff at an alarming rate. I get attached to objects and don't want to let them go, like my collection of glasses...I like having he right glass for Baileys, liqueur, wine, water, tea, martinis. Anyway, it means I have a collection of that, so it helps that I'm willing to let the couch an chair go when it's time to pack up and drive away.

So we're selling out and it's awesome. Building up the move/holiday fund, ya know?

bed time for bonzo!

"a kijiji ninja" = I love it!!! LOL

I envy your ability to let possessions go ... I hate feeling so attached to things I don't use. I'm having a real rough time giving up a couple of big items right now, namely my car - but I just don't need it - and yet, I can't seem to get my act together to get rid of it. Sigh. North American consumer culture...

I am so jealous of 'robs electric bike conversion kit'. I want to make myself an electric bike too... no time right now though, too many other projects on the go. Case in point - half finished rain barrels.

Sounds like you guys are more into spring selling than you are spring cleaning!
