cycle commuting

Oh! So Rob found a cruiser, but it's a supercycle so it's not that great. He seems happy enough with it. I Got Specialized Myka mountain bike...my first new bike since grade 8 and I really like it. The ride to and from town isn't far, it's the elevation that's a killer. We live atop the clay cliffs and the town is below on the flats by the river. It can't be more than 3-4 km to town, but the 220 steps (or alternately 2 Mile Hill, which, you get the picture) add a little oomph. Yesterday we biked home and pushed our bikes up the steps (there are little wooden ramps up the sides, like a trough for bikes) and it was work, but not too much work.

I got bike butt with our first rides, genuine bruises I think. But super worth it.

For what it's worth, my bike is white with a couple red-butterfly cut outs (girl!) and Rob's is red and black. My helmet has flowers on it for the maximum-girl effect. I'm really happy to be back on a bike, for the first time since we moved away from Waterloo, almost a year (excepting the off ride here and there in Ottawa).

@ Alan: wow, that's some mighty decent distance you guys are putting in! If I set out to do 56 km I'd be well on my way to Marsh Lake or out of town, anyways. I'll have to content myself with elevation challenges until I want to start hitting up the multitudes of trails around town. Any maybe wait to see where that moose got to.
