Weekend update

Friday:

I sat around at home and read 1.5 books. The books that the show Bones is based on are irritating because every chapter ends with "but then she didn't know the terrible event that would change her life forever" or "she could never have guessed the terror that was lurking around the next corner" or other crap like that. Not that it stops me from reading the books.

I went into town on Thursday and got my health card and got my library card. The librarian remembered me when I went back later on the weekend because I was just a bit too excited to get my card. I got books and DVD's out. We watched Spaceballs. Well, I watched Spaceballs, rob watched 20 minutes of spaceballs then fell asleep. Hard partiers that we are.

Rob got paid today and we marvelled over the joy of income. It was for three days work but whatever. We'll take whatever we can get and are so excited to have something in the "in" pile! Success!

Saturday:

Walked into town with Rob. Walked all over doing errands like getting mail, walking to Canadian tire and Superstore, buying groceries and a rug, trying to find decent used furniture. Realized that there are 7 buses on saturday, every few hours. Last bus home at about 6pm. All buses run on a loop in one direction only. No buses after 8 pm, no buses on sunday. We will be getting a car as soon as we can afford it.

Saturday evening we got picked up by an old buddy of Rob's who happens to live in Whitehorse with his girlfriend. We went out for Mexican food (run by Mexicans so it was super good) . Then we all trooped out to a hotel in town where there was a fundraiser with 15 bands. Rob's buddy's band was playing and there are very good. We had a really good time and these people seem like excellent people. I hope we keep meeting up and stay friends, they are active in the outdoors and very nice and some of them work in water quality even! Hard to ask for better.

Sunday:

Rob woke up early in gastro intestinal distress. Poor guy got 5 shots for immunizations last week and so his immune system is on overdrive already. He picked something up at the music gig buffet I guess. Poor guy. He hung out in bed/in the bathroom while I force fed him fluids and tidied up around the house and read more books. I made the first chicken stock I've ever made and plan to make some home style chicken soup, after my dad's recipe.

That's it! Our first social outing was a huge success and we bought a rug, which makes out living room look more like a living room awaiting furniture and less like a dance studio awaiting ballerinas and ballerinos. Progress is good.

I'm hanging at home doing laundry and lazily tidying up as my contract is firmed up and references are checked. I got a job description to review this morning and was amused to note that the working environment section included the phrase "will be exposed to heat, moving equipment, electric shock etc".
 huh.
