I still have a dry, barking cough left over from Texas! It's taking a while to work itself out. It's mostly okay though, just an irritation. I suppose it's an excuse to keep sucking on those tropical halls I bought. Mmmm, tropical.
Here's a back story:
Rob has a didge student. Her son plays in a band and that band was having a CD release party last night at the Starlight., The starlight is a small but trendy venue in town (I think, based on the names I've seen through). Like a smaller, loungier Barrymores, I guess.
Anyway, the didge student asked us over to her place for dinner, then we'd head off to see the show and support the band. Sounds good! So we went.
A list of things that happened yesterday that I was not expecting
1. I went to see a metal band perform.
Okay, so, new experience alert! I bough earplugs for $0.25 and felt very uncool till the first band went on and and I saw everybody adjusting their earplugs. METAL IS VERY, VERY LOUD. And complicated. I couldn't find the groove but the slam dancers could. It's not my style of music but I can see where the fans have something to love about it. I gather we saw some pretty excellent bands last night. I liked how the music kind of defibrillated my chest all night. It's weird to be physically shifted from sound waves!
Rob and I were the preppiest ones there. It was fine though, metal listeners are very nice. and don't seem to judge. Like in a tattoo shop I saw a joke that said: what's the difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people?
A: Tattooed people don't care if you don't have tattoos.
The word "tattoo" is starting to lose meaning to me due to repetition.
So, while i would likely never pay top see a metal band again, it wasn't horrible and it was pretty cool!~ I don't like the music but it was still interesting. And there was a huge costumed cookie monster rocking out at the show. He kicked me once by accident and was very apologetic! Rob said he was impressed that I didn't punch the dude in the face, but it makes sense because he wasn't trying to talk to me or hug me against my will. I don't mind costumes if they leave me alone. Make sense?? I tried to find my old entry explaining how I elbowed an amorous Oreo at carnival but couldn't find it to link. Is there an easy way to find old entries? Searching didn't work.
Have a good day and ROCK OUT!!!!!!

a huge cookie monster rocking away.. i can't even imagine!
and, just so you know, i don't know a whole lot about searching blogs effectively, but i don't remember you ever telling me about the oreo cookie incident. maybe just re-tell it. that's my vote.
also, i must say that you can really make me laugh. i can totally picture you and rob looking kinda lost at the concert. and what a gem of a comment about tattoos.
Was there an earplug vendor at the show? If true, that's hilarious. I've often wished for earplugs at most live shows. There's something about live music that makes people deaf - maybe it's a feedback cycle of slowly deteriorating hearing.
Take care of that cough!
