'tis the season/slow adapter

Oh man, despite the massive tease of visiting my sister and brother in law in London and getting a taste of a beautiful big pile of snow, ours has melted all away (mostly, anyways) and I am sad! Christmas should not be 7 degrees! Time to smarten up, weather.

Anyhoo, I'm still well into the knitting spirit, and even though I haven't actually been doing very much I am foaming at the mouth to do these next projects (which I think I will place on the sidebar to keep track of).

* fugl oh man, I want one. But, based on the wool we have (we got brand new icelandic lopi at the second hand store in the biggest grab EVER) it'll be for rob. All he really wants is a sweater with skulls, raised up though, not intarsia [intarsia being colour changing for you non-knitters] but due to the colour of the wool he may get fugl. It's such a dilemma! I don't know if I have enough for a plain colour one with what I have, but I know I have enough if I have a yoke like on fugl. If I can finish a solid colour seater with the skulls for rob with the brown wool, then I can keep the rest of the colours for the yoke of the fugl for me. Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

* The bed squid Need I say more? Really? How awesome is the tree-eating squid. I want one! Where is the pattern? I will seek it out and knit a squid. Oh yes, I will knit a giant squid. It's like using your superpowers for good, it's a responsibility.

* legwarmers Do NOT JUDGE ME. Leg warmers are the long johns you don't have to remove your pants to take off. That is good for walking and biking to school in the winter (should said winter decide to show up and settle DOWN for a while).

* Felted credit card holder This look slike an easy enough knit and it's so handy! If I get some nice felting wool and our washing machine decides to work again I might actually get to make one.

* We Call Them Pirates Everybody in the house has wanted one of these since we saw it.

* Pirate Mittens I know, they're wonderful.

* Sock Monkey Hat This may or may not ever make it into existence, but don't you just like knowing it's there? I do.

What's on your to-knit/make/bake/create list this season?

Also, I think I may be ready to adopt the new blogger beta. I think it will let me change my template without losing everything I've got, which would be nice. I am a late adapter.

As far as school goes, I am ALMOST done. I have a paper and two article reviews to write and then a pile iof undergrad exams to mark and then I am home free. Today I will try an set goals and maybe get going with getting this stuff done. Then I can tidy up and serisouly get into the knitting for reals. We have a little supplementary christmas shopping to do since we got bunches of stuff in Australia, which is good. We still like what we got and pleasantly surprised ourselves since we forgot what we picked up for certain family members.

I'm sick of school and have no thesis. I meet with my thesis advisor on Friday to talk about it, so I have to come up with a few ideas before I show up. I'm going to make a yes/no list and outline the stuff I'm totally not willing to do i.e. count things or knock on doors. What do I want to learn about? I sort of have a few ideas floating around. It's weird to judge your interests so much and imagine only thinking about that one thing for a while. I've rejected a bunch of stuff on that alone! I guess it makes you separate the wheat from the chaff, but it still is a strange exercise.

Anyhoo, when I am done all my school crap I will have a few weeks off. No new years at the cottage this year, sad to say. Rob and I have to drive back on the 1st, which is too bad. Rob starts work on the 2nd, and I start school on the 3rd. Well, I will, once I enroll in classes. So no cottage new years, which is sad! I love that place and it was so fun last time.

Take it easy peasy people and see you soon :-)

my list: create more time to sleep. with more sleep will come more desire to be crafty and more productive waking hours in which to be crafty.

i currently have the following on the go:
- chronological scrapbook, last page was sometime in april or may, i have some catching up to do
- wedding scrapbook, i would say i'm about half done
- blue and black blanket, stalled because i screwed up somewhere and can't figure it out
- ugmo socks, don't even want to look at them
- fuzzy white scarf for yours truly, will likely be the first thing to get picked up again

and that's it. for now. i would love to branch out and challenge myself with knitting but it just hasn't happened. i'll probably make a baby blanket for a very pregnant coworker of mine.... and that's it.

i switched to blogger beta and like it a lot. it's more user friendly. i copied my template into notepad and saved it before i did the switch just in case, but everything was moved over. i would still recommend saving your blog somewhere though.

that's a good list. I have lofty dreams but in terms of actual reality, it's not so good. I am discovering that there seems to be no knitting stor in K/W at all! Wha..? I want to buy a prticular Lopi book (#25) and I can't even find it at chapters, erg!

Thanks fo the blogger tips, that's a good idea to save it. It's super annoying to re-do the side bits.

How do you pronounce fugl? Unfortunately, it reminds me of the word fugly. Actually, that's probably not even a word but oh well.

Anyway, I checked out the link and I don't think the fugl is fugly at all.

I hear you ion the pronounciation, and fugly is totally a word! Well, now it is. I htnk it communicates a feeling on something very well. Maybe foo-gleh? Nah. fug-l. I think it's fugtastic! Wait, no I don't. I'm confused. I like it?
