'Oh Mah Guh!' OR 'I didn't get it'

So I've bee lazy about posting but that is no longer allowed because I have to publicly and LOUDLY say THANK YOU to everyone who helped give me basically the best birthday week ever. For serious.

My actual birthday evening was spent with family and I was spoiled with a pair of snowshoes, a fabulous and functional jewellry box, some lovely candies from my lovely and well travelled aunts (one from Port Perry, one from the Yukon...not here for my birthday specifically but shhh) and a brand new made-by-R banjo!

Then everybody (except Jess...heya!) bailed for S&B for the day after my birthda and I thought it was suspicious but it turns out it wasn't and they everyone was legit except my lame ass. Heh. R had a concert that he had really wanted to go to on either the Friday or the Saturday of this week but then decided that he didn't think he'd get his money's worth...which, weird because he actually yelled in joy upon reading about the bands coming to the Blacksheep earlier, but good thing I'm dense. I didn't get it.

Then I went to a surprise celebration for Alan's birthday (which was totally unaffiliated with my birthday) and it was fabulous...it was great to see the enormous amount of people who care about him...well done Sylvia! Also, Dance Dance Revlolution on Standard is very very challenging. Miss Miss Boo yourself, DDR!

Then it was a surprise baby shower for our friends and that was really cool, too! [aside: definitely have baby showers...these guys scored playpens and diaper genies and clothes and about a frillion dollars at the Bay and Toys R Us and stuff...wow!] and that went well. The couple having the baby made up lies to make me think that we might be ging to the Mayfair for a double feature...ideas planted earlier by C and M, continued by R. It's all very intricate. And it all lead up to me actually getting the surprise of my life coming home from the baby shower since everyone I know was in my decorated apartment with margaritas waiting for me! The cat was decorated (pictures to come).

They actually got to yell surprise and see me actually do a double take. It was classic. Everybody brought food and swedish berries (che-wy!) and chocolate peanuts and garlic bread and pasta and a fabulous ice cream cake.

I felt so, so lucky and it's wonderfuly. And am now the proud owner of a beautiful handpainted tea pot and new mugs and some margarita freezer cups and a Chapters gift certificate AND a crochet book and tea for two at my favourite little tea house (other than my place!). Lovely. Did I mention the Swedish berries? yum.

Anyway, I was genuinely surprised (no faking! hurray!) and I am SO grateful for all the work everyone put into it over the last week. I hear R was running ragged and I didn't know at all. And everybody was working to set things up, set me up, and get things prepared. C and M especially took lots of time crafting ways to get R away from me for planning and all kinds of things like that (including carving out a coconut so I could have a margarita in style...it's absolutely incredible). I never had a clue, so good job!

So thank you guys for making this one really special.

Pictures to come...I'm certain both Alan and Becky have some gems and I'll share them as as soon as I can.
