Except for Kelly Clarkson (yeah, I said it). What the heck is it about that girl? Catchy.
So here's my problem. I've actually started planning this trip, with route ideas and checking out flight info and so-on...turns out I'm starting to think my original idea is going to be...interesting to execute. But not impossible! Holy cow is this place ever big. That is so embarrassing to say, and yet, there I am.
In the interests of time and the lateness of my departure for the east, I'm thinking I may have to sacrifice New Brunswick (our only officially biligual province - thanks lonely planet!) because getting from Québec City to Saint John or Moncton would be a fairly epic overland trip and an impossible non-existent flight. And then there's the convenient flight from QC stright to Les Iles de Madeleine.
Let me back up for a second. Here's my latest idea that I'm sussing out for actual possibility of leg one of the trip (I'm thinking this trip needs a name, like Marianne's Impossibly Epic Journey, but way less dumb, way funnier, and probably shorter, if I'm going to have to type it. I'll think on it)...
Here we go.
1. Camp somewhere in Québec with a friend who actually has details and transportation; apparently instill total trust in said friend, since I clearly have no idea even where I will be.
2. Get ride to Québec City when camping is done, catch my pre-arranged (yay planning!) flight to Les Iles de la Madeleine. Spend, uh, time there (I'll give this more thought, I swear).
2. Take the ferry to P.E.I. Spend time there, too. I'll probably check out the Anne of Green Gables thing, but I won't cop to enjoying it, it's HISTORICAL. That's all I'm saying about that.
3. Take the ferry to Nove Scotia, and somehow parlay that into a fine time in Cape Breton, which is my only destination in that fair province (I've been there before, don't be mad NS! I still love you. Aw, don't be like that, I'll come back.
4. Take yet another ferry (wouldn't it be cute if my postings from that time are documentations of my slow discovery of some sea sickness problem? heh.) to Newfoudland, pribably the Port aux Basques part where I can hook up with that ther ferry that bounces along the southern coast. I'd like to then loop around the north of the Island (probably overland on bus)and up that peninsula thing in the North East if at all possible and head into Labrador.
5. Then things get a little vague and fuzzy. Or more so, if that's even possible.
Hmmm, so I'm delving in to the possibilities of the first chunk of the trip and it seems quite possible and plausible. The latter end of that 'plan' needs to be checked out, obvously. Once in Labrador, can you get out? Where to do you go after that? I'm hoping to dart right over to Manitoba, having spend a month in ontario already, or maybe right over to Nunavut/Northwest Territories. We'll see, I can't get too far ahead of myself. I was all proud of myself for booking a library computer, but I'm already half done my time, so it looks like I'l have to be good and come on back for more. Yay planning!
I have this feeling that many of my loved ones are regarding this little trip of mine with an internal cringe, like "cool Captain Underpants, sounds like fun. But, and don't let me bring you down here, but uh, , where will you SLEEP? Do you even know that you can GET a bus away form there?" etc. They don't ask because they know I don't really know. I sort of have this feeling that I'm setting myself up for some variety of life lesson, one way or another...I'm hoping for more of the "whoops, next time I'll bring TWO pairs of wool socks, ha ha" life lesson and less of the "whoops, next time I'll have polar bear survival training" life lessons.
As usual, I'll keep you posted. Any advice/ideas/warning are hereby solicited and appreciated, if you have any. Feel free to e-mail if you like. Thank you very much, and catch you later!!

No need, no need. Youwill still be in the comfort of your home when I realize that I've spent way too much time in NF and will be trying to get to the arctic or soewhere equally ridiculous in late Aug/Sept.
