errrrr

Hey thanks for the well wishes guys!

I...don't really have much of a follow up for that though. Nothin as exciting. So how about a request?

Here's my question. I have like $40 to spend on iTunes. What, oh what, should I buy? I like bad music and good music, but not ALL bad music or ALL good music. Helpful, I know. Okay, here's stuff I'm listening to right now:

Slow (ish)
- Hayden, Neko Case, Sigur Ros, The National, CBC podcasts which are usually awesome.

Faster, bikeable:
- Mother Mother, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Roy Orbison (yeah!), TV on the Radio, this one kickass song by a French band (Orange Orange) called Sors-Moi, whatever free tracks on iTunes except that horrible french rap that one time.

So, suggestions! I like 80's music but for me to buy it I really, REALLY need to love it. Catchy is good, new is good, Canadian is good but not necessary.

Also, band/music I don't like: Creed/Nickleback/you get where I'm going with this. Actually, most radio music form the 90's too, really. Seriously, any good hits form the 90's?

Help me bike to work! I need 4 songs to get there, and like 5-6 to get back!

Thanks guys, I clearly need the help. So, what are your top 5 picks, bands of songs...mellow me out at work or push my butt up those stairs.

massive thanks!

LOL - I'm sure by now you've realized I have eclectic musical tastes ... hmmm ... something you might like ...

Well, I'm always recommending Metric to anyone and everyone ...

I've become a fan of Rufus Wainwright, but mostly his Leonard Cohen covers ...

Um, Jason Collett is really cool ...
Everyone loves Feist ...
The new Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson single is really good ...

I don't really listen to the radio, except CBC Radio 2, so I'm not exactly sure what's supposed to be 'popular' right now :P

Good luck! Geesh, I wish I had your dilemma! Lol!

I'm loving Nantes by Beirut these days. Ummm...Basia Bulat has a really beautiful voice for some slower stuff. Sun Parlour Players (battle of 77 or the song called Up North) are fantastic. Two Hours Traffic are pop-y fun (and produced by J.P. <3!! ). Ohbijou sounds EXACTLY like Martha Wainwright imo...but I love the new songs. Coeur de Pirate is an awesome arty band from Montreal (I think...it's in French anyway). Hey Ocean is a cool band from Vancouver, and Hey Rosetta is from St. John's NFL (to have the Heys represented coast to coast).

Hope that helps! Let me know what you like!

Hum...May I suggest the two "disks" I'm listening the most these days which are;

1- Lost in the 80's by The Lost Fingers (manouche jazz style reprise of 80's success)- big hit in Quebec province this summer with "Pump up the jam" and "Part-time lover"

2- Marie-Pierre Arthur by Marie-Pierre Arthur (emergent smooth French-Canadian music - All the album is so soothing and it will help you practice your French ;o)
