Okay, so I'm leaving on Thursday (not on a jet plane, but you get the picture)...aeee! Lots of loose ends to tie up like miving out, getting the cell phone I promised my parents I would, saying goodbye's to family and sweethearts (well only the one, technically), deciding what will make the cut in my pack (very litte in terms of luxury items, but my mom's brilliant idea that my frisbee can double as a plate has returned it to the roster) and so-on. Well, I suppose that's actually most of it right there.
Anyways.
So, I didn't find a car, but I didn't want it for the east coast anyways so I'm not disappointed. did lots of research and learned lots and so hopefully if I stop trough town on the way out west, which is the plan, then I can maybe pick one up then. We'll see. I feel like that sentence was really vague in terms of grammatical setup. meh.
So, this past weekend I attended two lovely weddings, and only one had the traditional microburst/hailstorm! Truly, both were wonderful an I was especially pleased to see my (casual, yet excellent) French tutor friend literally tie the knot in full celtic regalia wth her sweetie of, like, forever. Plus there were TWO kinds of cake!!! What more could a guest want??
Other than that, it's occured to me that I still don't have aplace to stay on the Magdalen Islands, and I promised my sister I'd sort that out. I hear from an acquaintance that it's no big deal and lots of people tent on the beach, but it'd beawkward if my first cell phone call was to my parents (or, more likely my sister) from a cell. Although I vaguely remember promising to write abut any jailings so I guess we'll have to all wait and see together.
My pack is unbelievable heavy! Or, alternately, I'm unbelievably weak! Either way, I asked my mom to help me shave some weight off and I think I'll ask my sister and her man as well, because they have quite a bit of experience with it all. Mom had me axe the axe (hatchet, which I romantically love the idea of,but she was right. I lost my 500ml water bottle and have, at her suggestion, marked liquid measures on the inside of my travel mug with sharpie, so that's got 2 purposes now. She also suggested I cut my underwear load in half (from 8 to 4) which, fair enough, I can do laundry. I should say, 'fair enough, I HAVE TO DO LAUNDRY'. I have a feeling that for the first while, I'm going to be in a state of constant laundry crisis, then I'm just going to lower my standards.
Just kidding, honey! And mom!
heh.
So: first stop: Charlevoix, Québec. I hope to see whales, and I will prctice my french conversational skills or perish in the woods. Let's go team motivation! My pal who's taking me out there tells me that my confidence levels with my French communication attempts will soar with the Alexander Keith's Intensive Course in Ineb... no wait, Intox...no wait..Inhibition Loss! :) Yeah, that'll help. I'm so excited!
Okay, more as it happens friends. Thanks for tuning in.
xo
