Dawson City Music Festival 2009

Well, the drive was ugly.
Strange things at the festival...these guys were landing right next to acts performing all weekend!
Melissa McLelland and Luke Doucet rocked one of the venues, the riverside gazebo.
Our tiny campsite was barely big enough to contain our two man tent (can you find it in this picture?)

The main tent venue, we saw amazing bands play here. This was around 1 a.m. and the sun had just set. Dawson's got more light than us still, it felt normal for midnight to feel like 8 pm!
Dawson's other major venue and typical buildings, unpaved roads and wooden sidewalks.
Nutrition is important! This cinnamon bun is from Braeburn, a place on the Klondike highways known for gargantuan sandwiches, massive cinnamon buns and a bizarre grassy airstrip next to the restaurant. On the way home we saw a fire crew heli land on the airstrip and pick up 3 buns.

Bottom line, it was an amazing trip, we loved the festival an can recommend almost all the acts. One act I didn't see was the Acorn, which was disappointing. They are from Ottawa. Former high school buddies...check out the band members and tell me, do we know one of the line-up in the band??? I was too shy to stalk and ask!

Yay Dawson!

Jeff Debutte, Mike's older brother. Think I ran into this band coming back from Europe in March (It was definitely Jeff, and there were 4 guys with instruments so... probably The Acorn). Didn't talk with them though.

Looks like a good time... nice campsite - for midgets!

p.s. Christmas Gift Idea - mail everyone a massive cinnamon bun.

@ Alan: Well I'm glad I didn't say anything to him...after reading the festival program I was convinced we went to school with Jeff...and totally forgot about Mike's name. It DOES explain why I kept staring at him and seeing the resemblance, telling myself well it HAS been 9 years! Haha oops! Guess we weren't the best of friends, heh.
