We found a wholesale food warehouse near our place and went there today. We supersized our food bill. Actually I was pretty excited to get a jug of mustard because a) it's super cheap and b) it's a super popular condiment in out household since we discovered "honey mustard". We now own 3.78 litres of mustard (about $1 more than a little squeeze bottle in the supermarket, we paid $3.50). Consequently, if you live near us and want yellow mustard, don't be shy, come on over and fill up a container.
The main benefits are the cheap cheese (we cut it up and freeze the blocks, and thaw them as we need them) and cheap frozen berries, which we like on cereal and in smoothies.
Ultimately I'm pretty excited about the gardening and fresh organic food season which is approaching!
I'm volunteering for 2 different organic gardens this season, and I hope to reap lots of free food for my efforts, The community you build is great too and it's pretty win-win-win in that respect. My thesis is shaping up more and more and that makes me happy. Rob got a few days off work and we're coming home for the holiday weekend, so things are really looking up for us.
I hope things are going well for you all as well and I hopefully will have a more exciting installment of this blog soon :-)
xoxo
