Go Bruins! And me!

I had the best black bear sighting ever today!

Frank and Liz and I got up and left the house at 4 a.m. (!!) to drive for 2.5 hours to Botany Bay. It's known for it's extra special tide pools and we wanted to get ther as low tide as possible. Because of the tides, we got maybe half tide..arriving at daylight (pre-dawn, yesss!). I was able to see sea urchins, 2 kinds of large and tiny sea anemonies, little fishies, crabs and other really net stuff, including cool geology. We had a lovely lunch on the beach in the blazing sun and then headed back.

And on the way back I SAW A BIG BLACK BEAR!! Not just a bum disappearing into the forest ewither, this bear was in a clearing eating blackberries off the bushes and he didn't care about us and we drove up ppretty close and got to watch him. It was so cool, those things are so stocky and tree-trunky and just really strong looking. It was wicked. Yet again another day of awesome activities and wildlife watching.

Oh, but that's not all. When we got back Frank and I took the canowe out on to the ocean and had a good 2 hour paddle. I've never been in a canoe on the ocean before and it was really fun with the swells and the waves. I'm totally wiped, mind you, but I'm the wiped of a girl who has used her body and had a full and fulfilling day. Just magnificent.

I have made plans to make my way out to Victoria on Friday to stay with my pal who was the other band president on the exchangte I helped run in high school. He's a real sweetheart and I haven't seen him in years, and I'm so happy to get to check up with him again. I'll be sad to leave Liz and Frank. They've really gone beyond the call of duty to show me the best possible time ever. I never could have come close to having ht adventures I've had with out them, partly because of the places we went, but mostly because they are now my friends and it would never be the same without them. However, it won't be too bad because if the Air Canada prices don't change too much, it's not too bad to come out and visit. I feel better knowing that obviously I'll be seeing them again.

So, that's all been wonderful, but the most exciting thing to happen to me is that my sister asked me to be her maid of honour at her wedding! I'm SO. EXCITED. She has wonderful friends but she still asked me and I'll be the only one standing with her. I hope I'm not too big a suck and sob the whole time. I seriously cant wait for this wedding. I think it's super that they're getting married and apparently it means more to me than I would have thought, but I think that knowing that they will have mandatory time of hanging out with me in Australia of all plaaces is freaking brilliant. C gave me a rundown on the set up and likely date (June 3) and like events/location and it sounds absolutely wonderful. I feel like a gushy little girl squealing about kittens inside, but I suppose that's fair. In any case, I'll surely keep you posted on that and the ensuing search for an apropriate outfit. I want to look hott, so we'll see what Ottawa has to offer. Heyyy, maybe carolyn and mom will want to go to Montreal to do a little shopping! That would be fun! Anyways, that's my happy news.

So, things are good. ETA for Ottawa is likely going to be in a week or so, but we'll see what happens. As usual, thanks for stopping by, hope you're all doing well and having a good day. If you see any ads for cheap and nice 1bedroom's for rent in the glebe let me know :-)

Ah! You'll be home so soon! :) I'm thrilled that your trip went fabulously, and I'm glad to hear that the people you met up with on all your adventures treated you so well...it would be hard not to get along with you though...I miss your sunshiny attitude and enthusiasm! Not to mention your sense of humour. The architecture folks here in Halifax just aren't the same. Maybe it's the stress of the bizillion projects we have...whatev.

Can't wait to talk to you!

P.S. I'm glad the blackbear didn't decide it was in the mood for a Marianne sandwich...
